Transport imaginaire
A mechanical engineer by training, Branimir Misic proposes “Transport imaginaire”, an exhibit of metal robot sculptures, inspired by the imagination and the fantastic, on the theme of transport.
A mechanical engineer by training, Branimir Misic has been creating stained glass and mixed media sculptures for more than thirty years. The combination of his engineering and artistic background resulted in his original, yet enduring designs of robot sculptures, made from recycled metal and reused metal objects. The care with which he creates his characters gives them, despite their physical immobility, an engaging personality. He has exhibited his sculptures across North America and won several awards.
The artist's sculptures merge human, animal and mechanical characteristics to give each piece a unique personality. The most used items are old clocks and other mechanical parts, eyeglasses, keys, old kitchen utensils, etc. The different components of the sculpture are screwed together, seamless.“Transport imaginaire” is an exhibit showing metal robot sculptures, inspired by the imagination and the fantastic, on the theme of transport. About twenty sculptures evoke different categories of transport: air, sea, land, etc. The aim of the exhibit is, first of all, to introduce current generations to everyday objects used by their ancestors and, second, to preserve ancient objects for future generations by incorporating them into works of art.
