Le temps des rêves

Musée Beaulne, 96 rue de l’Union, Coaticook, Québec, Canada, J1A 1Y9

Isabelle Frot likes to write colorful stories. The exhibit "Le temps des rêves" is the perfect opportunity to show a series of fantastic creations in order to present her inner world and dreams which are the source of it.

Isabelle Frot loves painting, horses and fairy tales. She tells stories in paintings bursting with colors inside an imaginary universe where past and present mingle in an offbeat reality, the dreams that inhabit her interior universe. The paintings exhibited are not illustrations, works of art in themselves. Some are inspired by storytelling and poetry, such as:. “Hommage au plat pays ou Le lion amoureux”. Others, such as « Coeur vaillant », trigger the urge to tell stories. They all aspire to dream and escape, as books allow, but only through pictures. So there are landscapes, horses and knights, designed to trigger the time of dreams.

French writer and artist from Quebec, Isabelle Frot is passionate about horses and the grandiose landscapes of Canada. With a master's degree in visual arts from the University of Paris 8 and a certificate from university teaching of Concordia University, she divides her time between painting, writing and teaching the arts.

Drawing is the basis of her artistic training. But beyond drawing, painting allows her to express thoughts and emotions that touch our hearts. It is a real transformation: chemistry of colors, lacquers and textures. Slowly, her creation emerges from the chaos and comes to life. Painting is breathing and each brushstroke is an extension of inhalation.

She tells stories in paintings bursting with color: writing plunges her into the world of fairy tales and fantasy, while painting opens the door to imagination, to visions, halfway between dreams and reality. She ultimately sees herself as a visionary artist. Her credo: a brushstroke, a breath, the breath of life and dreams.
