Harry Norton, the Patron
Harry Norton is the son of Arthur Osmore Norton, manufacturer and worldwide distributor of railway jacks. In 1912, Arthur Osmore built a second residence, commonly known as the “Norton Castle”, which now houses the Beaulne Museum.
Harry was a patron of the arts and a passionate horticulturist. He and his sister owned a valuable collection of roman vases. The collection can be found at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.

Harry’s Edgewater Farm, in Ayer’s Cliff, was renowned for its splendid gardens. The rose beds, gladiolas, peonies and lilacs were exceptionally beautiful.

Painter Frederick Simpson Coburn, one of the greatest artists to come out of the Eastern Townships, was deeply inspired by this scenery. In 1938, he produced a painting entitled “Reflections in a Still Pool”.
